3rd Commandment – Thy shall speak English - not Christianese

"Cleansed by the blood of the lamb."

"Fueled by the power of the Holy Spirit."

"In this House."

"We'll worship in spirit and in truth."

"We are sanctified and justified."

"I'm in love with Jesus" (Spoken by a bloke)

"Lord, give us the harvest"

Have you ever heard well meaning Christians default to Christianese? When we default to insider language without an explanation of a particular term or phrase we exclude the new person, the "outsider".

Whether you are anchoring, leading worship, preaching, leading communion in a church services or  involved in a conversation in a smaller setting. Your conversation should always be comprehensible to those who are hearing you for the first time.

Brothers and sisters, do I hear an amen?
